How Family Hostel works

Family Hostel is simple: several families come to the same place at the same time.

You book a stay, join a chapter, and share the experience with other families — while still keeping your own family rhythm.

Not a hotel. Not a kids-only camp.

A shared stay for families.

In a normal hotel, every family is mostly on its own. At Family Hostel, families stay in the same house or place during the same period, so children can play together and parents can connect naturally.

You can join shared meals, walks, activities, conversations, and relaxed community moments — but nothing is forced.

How it works in 4 steps

Pick a family holiday, workation week, language-camp stay, or single-parent chapter.

Join us in the Swiss Alps or Montenegro, depending on the chapter and season.

Settle into your room or apartment, meet the other families, and join the shared rhythm.

Kids find other kids, parents connect, and everyone can still keep private family time.

Can we come outside a chapter?

Yes, in some places this may be possible. But the strongest Family Hostel experience happens during chapters, when several families arrive at the same time.

No. Parents look after their own kids, and children quickly find playmates. During some chapters, kids from 6 can join the optional friLingue Daycamp (bookable separately). Please check the chapter details.

Yes, especially during workation chapters. Some places are better suited for focused work than others.

Do we need to join all group activities?

No. Community moments are optional. You can join what fits your family.

It depends on the chapter. Many places use shared kitchens and community dinners. Exact food arrangements are listed on each chapter page.

Is it only for traditional families?

No. Family Hostel welcomes different family constellations, including single parents, patchwork families, friends travelling with kids, and grandparents with children.

Family Hostel is designed to be accessible and fairly priced, but not because we cut the important things. We keep things simple: shared spaces, community kitchens, nature, and real connection.
