What exactly is a Workation Chapter?
A workation chapter is a structured stay of 1–4 weeks where remote-working parents live together in a large house. Mornings are for work, afternoons and evenings are enjoyed as a family and community.
How reliable is the WiFi?
Every location is tested for connection stability before the chapter. We only work with houses that reliably support video calls and focused work. Exact specs are listed in each chapter's description.
What do the kids do while I work?
Kids from 6 can join the optional friLingue Daycamp (half or full day, bookable separately) – that's your focus time. Younger kids stay in your care, but with other children around to play with, it's easier to plan work blocks, e.g. in turns with your partner.
What does a typical day look like?
Roughly: 8–12 work time, 12–14 lunch break and shared meals, 14–19 family time with trips or activities, evenings optional communal cooking or dining. The exact rhythm is decided by the group together.
Can I join video calls and meetings?
Yes. There are quiet workspaces or corners in the house you can reserve for calls. The community understands that work is work — you won't be disturbed.
Which jobs work best for a workation?
Any job that can be done remotely: software, marketing, design, consulting, writing, sales. If you normally work from home, it works here too — with Alpine scenery as a bonus.
Is it actually productive, or more of a holiday?
Both — and that's the point. Mornings you'll be surprisingly productive because kids from 6 are at the daycamp and there's good energy in the house. Afternoons you fully switch off. The separation is sharper than at home.
Can I attend as a solo remote parent?
Yes. Many participants come as couples, some solo. There are also workation chapters specifically for single parents. Check the individual chapter description.
